FAQ
Where are your Vespas now?
Marcello and Sophia are still in Livorno. Sophia is on display in Marco's brand new workshop. (It's even cleaner and neater than his old one.) Marcello is in Filippo's garage. Filippo rides him occassionally, just for the fun of it.
The un-named white PX200 I promised Sally I'd sell if she got pregant is still in a mate's garage in Sydney.
So? Was it a boy or a girl?
A girl. Her name is Daisy and she was born an 8lb 10oz bruiser. She has already been to Italy three times, loves pasta and was the flower girl at Marco and Lucilla's wedding.
The photo on the right is her riding Sophia when she was only 3 months old.
How was Marco and Lucilla's wedding?
It was brilliant. The ceremony was held in an old church on Capraia the tiny island off Livorno where I visited them at the end of the book. The weather was great and because it was the end of season we had the island pretty much to ourselves.
Everyone said Daisy was the perfect flower girl. The Italian women were envious of her sparkly sequened shoes!
Can I tour Italy on a Vespa without buying one?
A company called Scooterbella organises short tours of Tuscany by Vespa. The pics on their web site look pretty cool. Their tours seem pretty reasonably priced. And Tom Robbins, a travel/motoring writer I respect, has done a tour with them and recommended it. I'm hoping try them out next year so I can give you guys a more personal thumbs up.
