On this day, waaaaay back in 2004, I arrived at Heathrow with my pregnant English wife, ready to start a new life in the UK.
On the whole it’s been a pretty positive experience. I still believe that a proper English summer day nursing an ice cold Fullers Honey Beer is pretty hard to beat.
So why am I getting all homesick and nostalgic and playing ‘Sunsets’ by Powderfinger at a level that shakes the windows?
I guess, to paraphrase Peter Allen, it’s ‘cos I still call Australia home.
And always will.
(Sorry about the lame YouTube video below – it seems Powderfinger never released an official one so all I could find is this ‘fan’ one!)
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
Things have changed in seven years mate. Nursing a cold VB whilst eating fresh seafood in 40deg is stiil the same though.
