Things that have been distracting me from the task at hand this week:
Reading
Life – Keith Richards
This hardback weighs a hefty 966 grams. If it was heroin it would have a street value of £38,640. I picked it up at my local Sainsburys just after Christmas for £7.99. In an age where the most minor of celebrities are on their third or fourth autobiography it’s a real delight to read about a life worth writing about. The drugs and love triangles are all present and correct, but it’s stories about the songs and the music that resonate the most.
One question remains unanswered though. How the hell is this guy still alive?
Listening
Hello – Martin Solvieg featuring Dragonette
A sweet little earwig of a song that I discovered on Jackie FM, twiddling the dial on a late night drive home. Any one who has ever listened to Jackie FM will realise how astounding that is.

Watching
Welcome
A gritty, bleak film about a Kurdish refugee and his attempt to swim from Calais to the UK. It’s French, so there’s a random sex scene in the kitchen. But apart from that it is nicely understated and engaging. Made me realise how much trouble the people who showed me around ‘refugee’ Calais could have got into with the police.
Visiting
Nomading Film Festival
A cool little festival that encourages people to make 15 minute films about their journeys. They’re accepting entries up until April 30 for this year’s festival so fire up iMovie and get to work.
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
