Sikh and tired

Golden Temple, Amritsar, India. 1994.

This photo was taken in at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. I’m just hanging out with the kitchen staff.

I was about half way through the trip that became The Wrong Way Home. As you can probably tell, I was exhausted – battered by the heat of Pakistan and overwhelmed by the realisation that I still had a long, long way to go.

The Wrong Way HomeA few days at the Golden Temple soon fixed that. It was an oasis of calm and the perfect place for me to recharge my batteries. Dipping my toes in the pool that surrounded the Golden Temple, illuminated under the midnight stars, soaking up the silence, was one of the magic moments of the trip.

The fact that food and lodging was an added bonus.
