In Livorno again

Marcello looks over LivornoThe eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed I was a little quiet last week. I’d like to say it was because I was chained to my computer tapping out the final chapters of Blimey! But as it turns out I was just over in Italy having a good time.

I guess I could have shelled out the £3 a megabyte data roaming fee to keep you posted about my carrying-ons. But I figured you could do without multiple tweets and posts about the amazing meals I was enjoying and the great weather I had each and every day – especially those of you in the UK where it is becoming increasingly grey.

It wasn’t all lunchtime cacuccio and late night ponces though. Believe it or not, I was in Italy to work. I was joined by director Daniel and DOP Armando to film a pilot for a TV version of Vroom with a View.

Actually, ‘pilot’ is probably overstating things a bit. The idea was to shoot enough footage to put together a three-minute teaser to present to network executives back in Oz.

Basically I rode my Vespa around, my friends took us to some really cool places that most tourists don’t get to and Daniel and Armando filmed it all. It went pretty well too – except for the fact I can’t talk directly to camera for the life of me.

Not sure if anything will come of it all. The decision now rests in the hands of fickle network executives. But I got to see my Vespas and my friends. And Daniel got a break from directing back-to-back episodes of Rush.

Oh, and I seized-up Marcello’s engine doing 90 kmh on a freeway outside Cevoli.

But that’s another story for another time!

Look forward to seeing the show then! Fingers crossed:) I’m sure you’re great on film really… It’s just your vespa riding skills that seem a bit dodgy.

Sounds great. I’d also really like to see The Full Montezuma made into a TV version albeit turning back the clock!
