I haven’t flown with Ryanair for a while. These days I find that the fares offered by proper airlines are better value – especially when you take into account they don’t charge you for ‘frills’ like checking in, seating numbers, using a credit card to pay and baggage.
So the flight to Gdansk and back was a bit of an eye-opener. It seems things are getting a bit surreal at Ryanair HQ.
First up, I offer you the ‘Girls of Ryanair’ crew charity calendar.
Ryanair’s inflight magazine – the imaginatively titled Ryanair Magazine – has Page Three girls. OK, they’re on page 12, they keep their tops on and they’re advertising a charity calendar. But it struck me that they seem to have the same kind of relationship with their aircraft as the girls in motoring magazines have with cars.
That’s Miss October below, a ‘soaped-up Joanna Goinska, 25, from Pila in Poland.’
According to the Ryanair website the 2008 calendar sold out ‘in weeks’.
No mention of which charity benefited from the girls’ largesse. But you can pre-order your copy of the 2009 calendar here.
More on the other signs in coming posts.
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
