… with John Bright’s Regiment of Foote.
Not sure what I’m going to be – a water carrier, I guess. But I’ll be spending the weekend with a bunch of other smelly English Civil War soldiers on a field in Newbury.
As you can imagine, internet connections are light on the ground on 17th Century battlefields. So I won’t be able to file any reports until I’m back home on Monday.
In the meantime, may I suggest you check out Jason Davis’s ‘blovel’ at The Curly Situation. It’s the story of Curly Gibson, an Aussie cricketer whose talent for accidental sporting success is surpassed only by his talent for getting shot at. Jason puts up a new chapter every couple of days. He’s a great writer, a nice bloke – and he got me free tickets to the Cricket World Cup Final at Lords back in 1999 when we tonked the Pakistanis. So I owe him big time.
Anyway, I’m off to polish my musket. Speak to you on Monday.
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
