Anzac Day 2008

Yesterday I mentioned the song ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me.’ So, today, on Anzac Day, I thought I’d have a bit of a dig around on YouTube and see if I could find a clip of it for all the non-Aussies out there.

This is a version by the Hunters & Collectors who recorded it initially:

You’re a good man Peter. It was a beautiful day in Brisbane on Friday. The sun broke through the dark dawn sky just after the last post and for the march we had one of those perfect crisp blue skies Brisbane turns on every autumn.

I joined the WWII vets at the ‘boozer’ after the parade and listened as they shared their stories. It doesn’t matter what nationality you are – doesn’t matter what anyone is – we’re just lucky to have days like Anzac Day to remember how lucky we are and how much we owe to everyone who’s fought for peace.
