From The Blog

I'm off for a beer …

Man, I’m glad that’s over.

I’ve just spent three days transferring the entire site to a virtual server. It shouldn’t have taken quite that long, but when you’re a web server newbie like myself things tend to get a little complicated. Especially when it involves transfer the mail server and databases as well.

I don’t think I want to hear the phrase DNS Propagation ever again.

Anyway, the good news is that things are running a lot quicker. The blog, especially, is zipping along.

Now, the technically adequate amongst you may be musing that a virtual server is a bit of overkill for a lowly author site. And you’re right. But it gives me the ability to run up to 10 domain names. And in particular, two other ‘specialist’ sites that I’ll be launching this year.

Can’t say much more than that. Except that I’m excited. Very excited.

Just think of how much you know about DNS now.

Or DNS Servers as most people refer to them. This is an interesting way to spend a hour or so…

Congrats on lots of painstaking work, Peter – didn’t really understand your post, but it sounded complicated! And good luck with all that lies ahead – perhaps if you have up to ten domain names now, you could auction one off or give it to the most amusing sugguestion? http://www.strangelynarrowmindedguardianreaders.com springs to mind…
