Well, that's Sydney and Melbourne done

Malt CafeMy first interview for Vroom by the Sea was Monday morning at 8.40 a.m. and I haven’t had a moment to myself since. The gig at Gleebooks went well – a big thank you to everyone who ‘adjourned’ to the Friend in Hand afterwards. And last night it was Melborne’s turn at the Malt Cafe in Beaumaris.

Malt Cafe gig was organised by Beaumaris Books and I’ve got to say it’s one of the best gigs I’ve ever done. Andrew, the guy who runs the cafe, provided ‘themed’ courses throughout the dinner and brought along his Sophia, an orange 1965 150, for me to lean against. Andrew and Cheryl, the owners of Beaumaris Books, had everything organised down to the last detail. And there was a large, responsive crowd, some of whom had travelled a long way to get there.

I felt like I was on form too. But if I was it was because it was such a fantasticly organised event … in the perfect setting … with a top audience. It would have been criminal for me not to respond in kind.

Anyway, if you live in Melbourne and couldn’t make it last night, you can still pop along to the front bar of the Espy tonight. It’s not a formal event, just catching up for drinks. But hey, who says we can’t at least try to recapture the magic?

We were lucky enough to be at Beaumaris Books for the Vroom by the Sea evening-with friends who came all the way from Gippsland-3 1/2 hours in blinding rain. It was fantastic-great food, wine and a very funny talk. We have a Vespa and are plotting ways to get it to Italy for our own adventure. Pity we can’t write as well -so no competition to both Vrooms.
