On Thursday the 22nd of November I’m crashing the night at Brian Thacker’s place in Melbourne. He’s a fellow travel writer and we figured it’d be fun to invite our readers for a drink or two at The Espy in St Kilda. Nothing flash. There’ll be no talks or Powerpoint demonstrations. Just an informal gathering of like-minded individuals enjoying a bevy or two. And if you stick around Brian’s band, The Brians, are playing there. (It’s some advertising thingy – there’s a free bar once you pay to get in.)
Anyway, the plan is to meet in the front bar at the Espy at 7pm (22/11/07) and have a few beers. If you want to go and see the band and enjoy the free bar you can. Or if you just want to hang and chat in the front bar that’s cool too. I’ll whack a copy of the new book on the table so you know which table we’re at.
I had contemplated holding up an umbrella like a Japanese tour guide but I’m not sure what the health and safety officer at the Espy would make of it.
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
Oh I wish. Unfortunately that’s a bit far to travel. Would be amusing particularly since I discovered both of your books around the same time. I have good memories of wild releasing (I’m a BookCrosser) “Naked Man Festival” at the Tamworth Visitor’s Centre because he mentioned the festival in the book. Yours, on the other hand, I associate with Perth since that’s where I finally found a copy “No S hitting” after looking for it since Sydney.
