Around the World in 40 Minutes

It was the Guilford Writer’s Festival over the weekend. Annie Caulfield and I were asked to entertain people over lunch at the Reader’s Day on Saturday.

The title of our talk was ‘Around the World in 40 minutes’ and the idea was that we would circle the globe in an East/West direction with the help of some of our favourite authors.

I started with a joke about Mike and the Mechanics – Mike Rutherford was born in Guildford – which fell flat but things improved after that. I’ve put most of the talk on YouTube here if you want to have a look.

It was a good crowd. They laughed at most of my jokes. And I got to meet Patrick – the first person every to ask me sign in an autograph book. How cool is that?
