Remembering Kurt Vonnegut

I went to Epsom library this morning to return Maisy Goes to Playschool. I was pleased to see that they’d set up a display to recognise the passing of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. It had a bit of a high school project feel about it but the sentiment expressed was sincere and respectful.

I have my suspicions as to which member of the library staff was responsible. There’s a chap on the returns counter who looks like he could quote huge swathes of Slaughterhouse Five verbatim.

Sadly, I don’t think is anyone on staff who would be moved to create a Peter Moore shrine should anything happen to me.

Not so Lucy Cousins, though. Judging by the well-thumbed state of her books I reckon she’d get the whole back wall.

    Hey Marc,

Much appreciated. I’ll put something in my will giving you access to my storage unit. There is a box if crappy souvenirs in there that’ll make a great centrepeice for the shrine. Really capture the nature of my work!

Am just re-reading Montezuma….can’t believe you went for 7 hours on a bus without taking a leak !! Awesome.

Peter’s unnaturally large and resilient bladder….we salute you !!!!

Maybe if you could prepare a sample bottle, to be used in your shrine round at Marc’s place, at a later date ??!!!!!

Peter, I’ve seen your shrine! Well, the beginnings of one anyway.

The Darwin Public Library had “The Wrong Way Home” on display last September. It was placed on round table, draped with fabric (damask?) and I seem to recall some sort of lighting effect.

For a small library, it had quite a few of your books (more than I can find back home in Canada now.) Coincidentally, I’ve never seen a Pingu shrine.
