Who should play me?

On the topic of Vroom with a View – the movie – Stuart raised an interesting point. Who would I like to play me? And who should play Sally? I have some ideas but I thought it would be more interesting to get your suggestions.

I should point out that the movie storyline is a little different from the book. My character is a bit more nerdy and put-upon. So your first instinct to nominate George Clooney or Brad Pitt should be tempered a bit. And Sally will be a local I hook up with rather than someone I met in London.

I’ll get things started with Heather Ledger for me and Penelope Cruz for Sally.

Well, a guy can dream, can’t he?

He may be a bit older than your good self, but I reckon Glenn Robbins would be awesome.

Ha! brilliant! And the girl who plays Effie could be the Italian Sally!

Since it’s going to be kind of a work of fiction (“based on a true story”), maybe Jude Law or Rupert Everett?

Heather Ledger sounds about right for you.

Based on his performance in “Starter for Ten” and in the brilliant “Shameless” – I think James McAvoy would be brilliant as you.

Would the actor have to adopt an Aussie accent? If so, the actor who played “Billy Kennedy” in Neighbours would be a good choice.

As for Sally … it will be someone sweet and innocent like Audrey Tatou although she’s the wrong nationality!

What do you mean ‘a bit more nerdy and put-upon’, is that possible? Haha, just kidding mate!! I think someone like Jim Caviezel would be a good person to play you, he can certainly play a nerdy shy type (Angel Eyes). As for who should play Sally, how about Monica Bellucci?

I was going to say rupert everett too, though if not him, maybe the guy who played Glen in “the Dish”.

    Easy!

Vroom with a View – the movie. Starring Danny DeVito as Peter Moore and Angelina Jolie as Sally… ;-)

Danny Devito?! Actually, not that far off the mark. I’ve always felt that I bore more than a passing resemblance to Phil Collins.

Jude Law seems to have featured a bit – but suspect more because some of you would like to see more of him on the big screen. (I won’t mention any names, Barb.) I should point out that Sally thinks he’s a bit woosy and prefers Russell Crowe as he appeared in Gladiator.

So far, I’m leaning towards Colin Farrell. As much as I’d like to see Ann from Neighbours on the big screen, I think the money men might want someone more internationally bankable!
