I got an email from Fran today telling me that her mother, Evelyn, is a big fan. She borrowed a copy of Swahili for the Broken-Hearted from her library simply because we share the same surname and she loved it. It was an audio version especially produced for Visually Impaired People. Evelyn, you see is 96-years-old.
By reckoning that makes Evelyn my oldest fan. I’ve had emails from people in the seventies. Even the odd eighty-year-old. But never, as far as I can recall, from someone in their nineties. I feel chuffed to be reaching out so far beyond what my publishers regard as my demographic.
Fran tells me that her mother has listened to Swahili three times and has made notes so she can tell her VIP Book Club all about.
Now that’s the kind of fan I like!
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
Peter,
I am 32 but I act like a 3 year old. Does that make me your youngest reader?
