From The Blog

Normal Transmission Has Resumed

I’m sorry things have been a bit quiet on the blog recently. I’ve been packing stuff into boxes and transporting them to the outskirts of London. In the quest for a bigger backyard for Daisy and an office for me we have moved to Epsom.

Now Epsom is not the most exciting part of the UK. But there are at least half a dozen quaint pubs within stumbling distance of where we live. And enough space in the yard for me to set up a barbeque. (It’s something that my Australian DNA compels me to do. It was christened yesterday.)

The real bonus is that I have my own office up in the loft. All my stuff is within easy reach and when I pull up the ladder I’m in my own little world. At the moment that little world consists of downloading music and listening to St George get beaten (again). But from tomorrow I’m going to get all serious and productive.

Well that’s the plan anyway.

How exciting! Congratulations on the move. I do hope you settle in smoothly and enjoy the change of scenery from London. Not so much rat race as horse race, now!

Best wishes for the new home.

Welcome to Surrey, I live down the road from you in Reigate. Epsom Downs is a great place for a walk with Daisy and there’s lots of off road cycling, if you like that kind of exercise. Also you are now much nearer to Box Hill, the famous motorcycle hang-out, where even scooters are welcome

Blinking heck mate, your loft room seems a big dark and dingy and if I dare say, seedy!
You won’t do your eye sight much cop up there my love.

I think your first priority is to get the builders in and put a couple of velux windows in your roof.

From your ever so concerned blog reader!

    Congratulations.

That bit about pulling up the ladder. Crikey, I need some of that.

Not sure what the landlord would make of me cutting holes in his roof, Millie, but I should point out that it’s not as bleak as the photo makes out. I suspect the camera set the exposure for the brightest light source – ie screen, lamps.

Besides, I prefer to think of it as comfy, not bleak!

I’ve only just come across your website so I may have missed the reason why but, having had the pleasure of visiting Sydney and sitting at Circular Quay at night admiring the views and people watching with a beer or two, I don’t think I’d voluntarily choose Epsom in the UK instead. Nice place and all that, I lived near there for many, many years but given the choice…

Good luck with your new projects.

    Hey Peter,

Now you’ve made me homesick. Given a choice I’d rather be sitting by Circular Quay in Sydney instead of the Ashley Centre at Epsom. But circumstances have me in the UK at the moment.

Having said that, I noticed Steve Brookstien is playing at the Epsom Playhouse next week. You’ve got to admit, that’s not something that is likely to be happening at the Sydney Opera House any time soon!

Sounds truly superb … wondered where you had got to.

Good luck with the ‘serious’ :)
