The best thing at the zoo was the poo

We took Daisy to London Zoo on Saturday. It was a sunny day and at 22 months old we figured she was old enough to enjoy it. She liked the penguins and the otters. But generally her interest was not so much in the animals but their waste products.

At the petting zoo she was more interested in picking up sheep poo than feeling their wool. And as you can see from the photo she was delighted by the huge bronze statue of a couple of dung beetles and their faecal handiwork.

Sally reckons that it’s normal for toddlers to be interested in such things and that Daisy was bound to show more of an interest than most.

After all, her father’s first book was called No Shitting in the Toilet!

Have no fear – all kids love poo. I looked after my 2 year nephew yesterday and we decided to read a new book I had bought for him. After reading a chapter of ‘Ordinary Audrey’ (a story about a cowgirl) he shouted at the top of his voice ‘Aunty Millie – I’ve done a poo!’

The little darling only went and pooed on my carpet – he thought it was halarious – I thought it was a cruel thing to do to your Aunty Millie who had a raging hangover from the previous all day drinking session (don’t you just love the first day of the football season? :->)
