Vespa Health & Safety

Back in October lat year I posted a story on this blog about an Aussie guy called Mike Shackleton who rode around Italy on a Vespa after reading Vroom with a View. One afternoon in Montefiascone he ran into a garbage truck and turned his PX into a taco. Mike was lucky and escaped with only a broken wrist.

Ten months later Mike is back in the UK. He’s working on one of the sites for the 2012 Olympics and has a new black PX. He told his fellow workers about his experiences in Italy and they decided that he shouldn’t go near such a dangerous piece of equipment without the appropriate safety measures in place.

I don’t know about you but it makes me feel good to see the UK construction industry taking Health and Safety so seriously.

Apart for being obviously sorry for the accident that occurred to Mike and glad that he did not suffer major injuries, the story you wrote is just so funny and admirable since a guy from Australia decided to tour Italy with a Vespa, an extremely popular scooter among italians but not so abroad.

The black Vespa looks in great shape and I hope to welcome again Mike in Italy and his shiny PX!!.

    Ciao,
    Alberto
