Sally is convinced I took a knock to the head when I got hit by a car on Tuesday. The day after it happened I shaved my hair off and got a new phone.
The head-shaving was a response to the ‘heatwave’ we’ve been having here in London. I thought it may help me stay cool but all it has done has made me look like a football hooligan. People have started crossing the street when they see me approaching.
I got a new mobile phone because the ‘2’ button stopped working on my old one. Not only did it make calling people with that digit in their number difficult, texting messages with words using the letters a, b and c became problematical too.
After doing a bit of research on the web I decided to get one of the new Nokia N73s. Nokia insist on calling it a ‘multimedia computer’ – it’s loaded with all this smart phone stuff I’ll probably never use – but it’s just a phone with lots of bells and whistles. All I care about is that it’s got a 3.2 megapixel camera, an MP3 player and it’s small enough to fit in my back pocket.
My first impressions are that it’s a pretty cool phone. I love the MP3 player. And it’s great to be able to grab spontaneous photos and videos. The only thing I’d say is that the camera isn’t as good as I thought it’d be. It’s got a Carl Ziess lens, for what it’s worth, but the photos aren’t any better than the 2 megapixel Canon Ixus I’ve had for years. I’ve attached a couple of pics to this entry. (Including a self portrait of the new haircut – my apologies in advance for any distress it causes.)
Anyway, better go I’ve got to transfer all my old contacts! And, BTW, for all of those who have been asking – the knee’s fine!
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
The head shaving brings backmemories for me two weeks ago….i went in to the hairdressers, sat down and said “i’m feeling brave, give me a 2 all over”….prob is its been yeras since i’ve had a hair cut wth clippers and forgot just how short a number 2 was…..thankfully its grown to a better length now!
Mind you, it helps in the heat!
Has your new haircut scared the nipper?
When my dad shaved all his hair off (including his moustache that he had since I was a baby) it TOTALLY freaked me out and I couldn’t look at him for days!
Not sure its a good look Peter – but thats probably because you look like a convict in the self portrait. Try it again with a smile :->)
TTFN x
I like the picture of Irvine Welsh, Peter!
It’s a bit Nick Hornby as well. All us authors must morph into the same look!
And Millie, Daisy was totally cool with it. She didn’t react at all. She’s only 22 months old and led a very sheltered life though. No bad life experiences with slap-heads.
But I agree, not a good look. Made worse by being a self-portrait. There’s just no way of taking a flattering photo of yourself holding a camera/phone in front !
Although there’s no chance of you doing so anyway, I strongly advise you NEVER to wear an England football shirt in public with a haircut like that!
you look like my Year 11 Biology teacher! Eeeeeeeeeep!!!
OK, I think we all agree that the shaved head thing was a big mistake. No one wants to look like a Year 11 Bilogy teacher. Even Year 11 bilogy teachers.
All I have to do is wait for it to grow back. Maybe a should start wearing a hat. I have a really cool straw one I got in Sardina that Sally reckons makes me look like Sid James!
Yeah – go for the straw hat!
Straw hats are cool and on the fashion concious male they are … a very good look :->)
England Fan… Biology Teacher… Sid James… man, Sally is a lucky girl.
Man, I’m starting to get paranoid now. I think I’ll just stay in the house until my hair grows back. at least Daisy still loves me!
Also, if any of you are thinking of getting an N73 I’d hold off! I’ve just had to send mine back after only three days! The camera started buggerising around.
