My publisher’s are covering the expenses of this trip so I’ve been catching more cabs than I normally would. So far I’ve had two Nigerian drivers and an Eritrean one.
They’ve all been interesting characters and each one has been surprised that a) I talk to them b) I know where their homelands are and c) in the case of the Nigerians, that I’ve visited their countries. Interestingly, they all thought Bill Clinton was the best President America has had.
It gave me an idea. Every time I catch a cab I’m going to note where the driver is from and keep tabs on the bottom of each day’s blog entry.
Any guesses on which country will come out on top?

This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
Sounds great, Peter! I imagine the vast majority will hail from the Dark Continent but hopefully you’ll get a colourful Eastern European cabbie at some point (“Get out of my cab, you Serbian bastard!” just to bring a little Kids in the Hall). As far as guessing who’ll come out on top I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest Chad will sqeak through although I have absolutely nothing to base this on. Just a hunch, I suppose.
Hope you’re having a great time!
In San Diego I’ve noticed many are Afghans and Creoles. In New York, Punjabi Indians.
They must’ve been shocked to have a fare who could even tell them which continent they came from, let alone one who’d been to their country.
Based on very little evidence, and despite the fact that the Africans have taken an early lead, I’m saying that a Latin American country will end up topping your chart.
Due to past experience : Eastern Europeans . Did u happen to ask them what they thought of Bush ?
