Just a quick note to let you know about two gigs I’m doing this week – one in Daventry in Northamptonshire and the other in London. I’ve been assured that both venues are bed-bug free.
The Daventry talk will be held in the library there on Thursday night at 7.30 pm. According to the glossy brochure put out by Northamptonshire County Council I will be chatting about my ‘travels and inspirations.’ For tickets, info etc email here.
On Saturday afternoon at 2.30 pm I’ll be speaking at the TNT Travel Show in the New Connaught Rooms on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden. This time I will be chatting about travelling overland from London to Sydney. There’s always a queue to get in to the show itself so get there early.
I’m driving up to the gig at Daventry so I won’t be able to hang around for a drink after – which a shame considering the library is offering a free glass of wine to everyone who comes along. If anyone is interested though, I should be able to have a pint after the TNT talk.
It’ll have to be a quick one though. It’s also my wedding anniversary and I told Sally I’d take her out to dinner!
UPDATE (17/03/06) :
The gig at Daventry went really well. Thanks to everyone who braved the shite weather to turn up. Much appreciated. Thanks must go as well to the barmaid at the Dun Cow for the perfectly pulled pint of ale to calm the nerves beforehand.
Now, tomorrow. Looks like a few of you are keen for a quick pint after the chat. The plan as it stands is do talk, answer questions, flog a few books then retire to nearest pub.

UPDATE (20/03/06):
Wow, what a turn out at the travel show! Biggest crowd I’ve ever spoken to, I think. Maybe that’s why I had one (or two) too many with the reprobates pictured to the right. I did get home in time though to take Sally out for dinner for our third anniversary. I had the sirloin steak which I’m sure Shermozzle will agree is really just an upmarket kebab!

Well that was a big afternoon. Now at home, after a rather lovely kebab from Best Mangal in West Kens. Hope you don’t get too much of a bollocking from the trouble and strife on your anniversary
