Filippo just emailed this picture of one of his Vespas. It’s a 1977 50 Special he left out overnight in the backyard of his villa in Cevoli.
It seems they’ve had a bit of snow.

It’s snowing in Belgium too … so cold, so veryvery cold, meanwhile I was talking to a friend in Sydney yesterday … he told me, in graphic detail, about 30oC and having the a/c on.
Hey, have you heard of Skype? http://www.skype.com Free phone calls if both people have it loaded onto their computer … or about .2cents per minute from Europe to NZ and Australia, and you can call landlines.
Happy New Year, and all the best for the year ahead.
Gday Peter, I read your book only a few weeks ago and yesterday I was lunching at Fisherman’s Wharf on the Gold Coast, Australia and lo and behold, there was a vespa parked at the entrance to the marina. I’m no vespa expert, but it looked very much like yours and it had a very non-standard paint job – it was painted ocean blue with colourful fish swimming!! I was with my parents for lunch and they were interested in the boats at the marina but I was saying stuff that, check out this vespa! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera with me.
It is incredible how beautiful the Vespa is, no metter how…
Congratulations for your Vespa trip! I will go to EuroVespa in Turim from Portugal on my Vespa. I followed your trip. Next time you must come to Portugal.
Have a nice year!
