I went to see Sigur Ros on Sunday night. They played in the courtyard of Somerset House on a balmy summer night and it was one of those gigs that captured the mood of post-terrorist London perfectly – fragile, bruised but upliftingly defiant. The contingent of gay Norwegian bikers up front seemed to like it too but I suspect they may have been security.
Somerset House is on The Strand so I had to catch the tube there and back. It was the first time I’d used public transport since Thursday and the other passengers seemed to take my insistence on frisking them and checking their bags in good spirits.
