My blog has only been up a day and I’ve already had a few emails asking me what the title means. I was going to be smart and say ‘whatever you want it to mean’ but the rent’s due and I can’t risk alienating people who buy my books.
The line is lifted from a song called 747 by the Swedish band, Kent. The guy is sitting on a plane, reflecting on the end of a relationship, and he describes the sound of the plane as ‘a violent whisper, the fully-airconditioned sound of speed.’ It struck a chord with me – that is what a plane sounds like when you’re sitting in the cabin at 35,000 ft – and I thought it’d be a pretty cool name for a travel-related blog.
