I was a guest speaker at the TNT Travel Show last Saturday. It was held at the New Connaught Rooms near Covent Garden in London, a rather ornate venue for a gathering of scruffy Antipodeans. It was packed solid – I think every backpacker in London was there.
My talk on travelling in Central America was rather well attended too. There were people standing at the back and sitting in the aisles – a first for one of my events! It seemed to go well. People laughed at my jokes, which is always a bonus, and quite a few folk stayed back to buy books and have them signed. One guy even asked to have his photo taken with me, something that still freaks me. (I always think they are taking the piss.)
A few people even pulled out battered 1st editions of The Wrong Way Home and No Shitting in the Toilet to be signed. It reminded me that I’ve been doing this for a while now and how lucky I am to be able to make a living out of travelling the world and writing about. Thanks guys!
This is where you'll find everything you need to know about me and my books.
